Facebook had a busy June that included rolling out Instagram video, introducing the option to add photos in comments, revamping pages’ analytics dashboards and dealing with a software bug that exposed some users’ contact information.
Pushed out of the limelight by those events was another update to Facebook’s ever-changing commenting features: the ability to sort comments chronologically or by activity.
Only pages and select individuals currently have the new feature. However, more and more users, as well as their friends and the people they follow, are slowly getting access to the sorting capabilities. (See the options beside the number of likes in the photo, below).
So far, early users and people who receive many comments — have found sorting to be beneficial for quickly moderating real-time comments.
Previously, since the reply-to-comments feature became available in March, popular comments would surface to the top without the option to view them chronologically.
