FaceBook is now working on the new ad product. This will put company direct competition with competitor site like Craigslist and LinkedIn. This new feature in the FaceBook, classified ad services will allow the users to post for different of goods and services in their friends news feeds.
As per the Daily, two anonymous services independently confirmed that new classified ads service is now in development. They are calling this new feature as “Marketplace”. Few years ago they are introduced classified service called “Marketplace” but that was infrequently used. Now they are called the “Oodle Marketplace”.
But this new classified service is something different than the old Marketplace product and it is social sharing and new feed placement. As per the Daily report users can able to create their own classified ads and able to promote them in their friends news feeds. In this user can able to post classifieds for furniture, rental house, jobs. If the user wanted to sell anything products they have to pay small amount of money for news feed ad but the ads like “roommate needed” would be free.
This new classifieds pop up in news feeds rather than accessible via app. This new feature will increase the visibility and makes the FaceBook into big player in this area. This new classified ads would cut into Craigslist’s market share and LinkedIn slice of the job posting pie.
FaceBook is previously launched their promoted Posts product to users, you may think that FaceBook is already made me to pay for the promote posts. Now what is the different between these two? Surely they have the slight different look and allow multiple photo views for product and slight different look. In the promote post if you have less than 5,000 friends you can pay to promote any of your status update.
FaceBook was commented on the repost like:
“We are currently running a small test that makes other ad units eligible to appear in news feed. This is just a test; we have no further details to share at this time,” said a spokesperson.
